Sustainability Governance and Partnerships
Sustainability: a commitment from all
Sustainability is key at Metrovacesa. For that reason, senior management has made a pledge for continuous improvement and integrated sustainability management across all areas of the business.
This commitment, which is shared by all, starts with the Board of Directors, the highest governing body responsible for managing matters relating to sustainability. On the other hand, the Appointments, Remuneration and Sustainability Committee is in charge of supervising compliance with sustainability policies and for making sure that the Company’s environmental and social practices are in line with the strategy and policies we have in place. The Audit and Control Committee also plays its part by supervising and assessing the process of preparing the Company's non-financial information.

Partnerships
Partners in sustainability
The company takes part in several initiatives, one of those being the greatest commitment to corporate sustainability in the world: the United Nations Global Compact. Through this initiative, Metrovacesa has pledged to align its activities with the Ten Universally Accepted Principles in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environment and anti-corruption, as well as taking measures to support UN goals.
The company is collaborating on the “Sustainable Cities 2030” project spearheaded by Forética, in which it can offer its experience in the field of sustainable urban planning, working with the other companies involved to identify and take on the challenges currently facing cities.
In 2021, Metrovacesa joined the Green Building Council España (GBCe), Spain's main sustainable building organisation, which is part of the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) international network, with the aim of continuing to strengthen its commitment to sustainable urban planning and building, and actively contribute to the transformation of the property sector towards more efficient strategies that are more respectful towards the environment and towards society.
